British Soldiers Lichen

The British Soldiers Lichen - also known as Cladonia cristatella (L) - is found throughout the Avon Peninsula woods. To the casual observer walking by, it's hard to glimpse the fine red tips, but as you draw close the complexity and shape of the whole lichen structure comes into view.
